F1 is coming to India

woohooohooo....i am sooo proud of this!

Formula One is coming to India with a grand prix scheduled for New Dehli in 2009, the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced on Thursday. The are planning to hold the race around New Delhi.

The IOA would raise necessary financing through government or private funds.
Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of Formula One, has identified the sub-continent as one of the growth areas for motorsport's premier class, with interest in India gathering pace after local driver Narain Karthikeyan (currently a test driver for Williams) drove for Jordan in the 2005 season.

Viewing figures for Formula One on Indian television are also strong, with fans displaying the same passion they reserve for the country's most popular sport -- cricket.
